COMMUNITY
Caras collaborates with the communities of Vietnam, Amelia and Sabana de Guaynabo. We also work with the communities of Juana Matos, Puente Blanco and the town of Cataño.
Support for the elderly
The Food Route provides hot meals and non-perishable food to households in Vietnam and Puente Blanco, prioritizing the elderly or people with health problems. In addition, our Compartir con Causa organizes monthly emotional healing workshops, art, and social activities for seniors over 60.
Community Beautification
We offer cleaning and maintenance services in the homes of elderly people or people with health conditions in Cataño and Guaynabo Norte, addressing various household chores and minor repairs.
March for Peace
The March for Peace, an annual event, unites diverse sectors of Cataño and North Guaynabo to promote peace in our communities since 2019. We reclaim individual and collective peace there to counteract violence in our communities and create a more just, sustainable and peaceful society. This year around 1,000 people attended.
Community Organization
We help establish and strengthen local leadership boards to address community needs. We support the permanence of our communities in the face of possible unfounded evictions.
Volunteers with a Cause
Our volunteer program engages youth and adults to increase civic participation in social justice work. Throughout the year, they collaborate in tutoring, community beautification, planting trees and gardens, among other activities.
Meeting Program
In collaboration with Amizade, we offer service and cultural exchange experiences in Puerto Rico for U.S. universities and groups, generating community support and awareness. In addition, in 2023-2024, our youth will participate in an overseas program.
